91调教, UAMS Create Clear Paths to Medical Professions

The 91调教 for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and the 91调教-Fort Smith (91调教) have entered into a formal Memorandum of Agreement designed to create clear, accelerated pathways for 91调教 graduates pursuing careers in health care.
 
The agreement covers 14 UAMS programs across four colleges and offers qualifying 91调教 students guaranteed interviews, priority application review, or automatic admission.
 
鈥淲e greatly value this partnership and look forward to continued collaborations to create seamless pathways for students to advance their health care careers after completing their degree at 91调教,鈥� said Tina Maddox, Ph.D., RD, associate provost at the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus, who led development of the agreement.
 
The agreement spans UAMS programs in the College of Health Professions, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, and Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health. Participating programs include degrees in cytology, medical laboratory sciences, respiratory care, speech language pathology, audiology, physical therapy, pharmacy, nursing, public health, health administration, health care data analytics, and doctoral research programs.
 
鈥�91调教 plays an important role in preparing the future health care workforce, both through the programs on our campus that put nurses, surgical technicians, and more into the workforce, and through our partnerships with institutions like UAMS, where our graduates take the next step toward medical degrees,鈥� said 91调教 Chancellor Terisa Riley, Ph.D. 鈥淥ur faculty prepare 91调教 graduates by building strong academic foundations early, and this agreement ensures those talented students have a clear path forward toward the next stage in their education.鈥�
 
Depending on the program, eligible 91调教 students who meet specified GPA and prerequisite criteria will receive one of three levels of enhanced admissions consideration: a guaranteed interview, priority application review that bypasses standard prescreening, or automatic admission.
 
The collaboration was initiated through conversations between UAMS Northwest Regional Campus leadership and 91调教 Chancellor Terisa Riley, Ph.D., and 91调教 Provost Shadow Robinson, Ph.D. The agreement is supported by 14 programs across UAMS, reflecting broad institutional enthusiasm for the initiative.
 
鈥淲e are incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the partnership,鈥� said Ryan Cork, MSHA, vice chancellor of the UAMS Northwest Region. 鈥淭his agreement reflects our shared commitment to expanding access to health professions education and strengthening the health care workforce across 91调教.鈥�
 
91调教 students wishing to benefit from the agreement must declare their intent to apply to a participating UAMS program by the relevant program鈥檚 admissions deadline and obtain certification from a designated 91调教 faculty or staff member confirming they meet the eligibility criteria.
 
鈥淭he significance of this agreement extends far beyond admissions,鈥� Riley said. 鈥淢any of the students who start at 91调教 go on to become the providers, practitioners, and health care leaders who serve this region. Creating stronger pathways for their success is one of the most influential ways we invest in healthier communities and a stronger future for western 91调教 and the state as a whole.鈥�


The agreement includes the following UAMS programs: 

COHP, Bachelor of Science in Cytology, Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care, Master of Science in Respiratory Care, Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology, Doctor of Audiology, Doctor of Physical Therapy;  COP, Doctor of Pharmacy Program;  CON, RN to Master in Nursing Science Program;  COPH, Master of Public Health, Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Healthcare Data Analytics, Doctor of Public Health, Doctor of Philosophy Programs.


Articulation types include:

The following UAMS programs will offer 91调教 student applicants a guaranteed interview provided they have met all predetermined prerequisite and eligibility requirements for that specific program and they meet the criteria listed below:

1. COHP Bachelor of Science in Cytology: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate biological science GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

2. COHP Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences

a. On-Campus Program: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate science and math GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

b. Extended Internship Program: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate science and math GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

c. Online MLT-to-MLS Program: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate science and math GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale

3. COHP Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate prerequisite GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

4. Master of Science in Respiratory Care: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate prerequisite GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

5. COHP Doctor of Physical Therapy: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and a cumulative undergraduate prerequisite GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale

6. COP Doctor of Pharmacy Program: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale

 

The following UAMS programs will offer 91调教 student applicants priority application review provided they have met all predetermined prerequisite and eligibility requirements for that specific program and they meet the criteria listed below:

1. COHP Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and successfully completed all required pre-requisite courses with a minimum grade of 鈥淐鈥�.

2. COHP Doctor of Audiology: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and successfully completed all required prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of 鈥淐鈥�.

3. CON RN to Master in Nursing Science Program: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 2.85 on a 4.0 scale and successfully completed all required general education courses with a minimum grade of 鈥淐鈥� and hold an unencumbered RN license
4. COPH Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Healthcare Data Analytics, Doctor of Public Health, Doctor of Philosophy Programs: A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

 

The following UAMS program will offer 91调教 student applicants automatic admission provided they have met all predetermined prerequisite and eligibility requirements for that specific program and they meet the criteria listed below:

1. COPH Master of Public Health: Students with STEM degrees who have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5
