“91µ÷½Ì is somewhere you can thrive!â€ senior media communications student, Alyvia Jean Scroggins said. “I have changed so much since coming to 91µ÷½Ì. In the last three years, I have been challenged in ways that I would never imagined and have grown to become truly myself.â€

She's been immersed in hands-on learning in her media courses, served as sorority president for the 91µ÷½Ì – Fort Smith chapter of Delta Gamma, and worked alongside the admissions team as an ambassador who welcomes prospective students to campus.

“I have had so many unique opportunities being a student at 91µ÷½Ì. I have gained countless mentors who have helped me and will continue to help me after graduation,â€ she said. “I know that when I graduate, I will have so many resources and opportunities thanks to my connections and experiences at 91µ÷½Ì.â€

Alyvia came to 91µ÷½Ì from the small town of Berryville, so finding a community that could help her achieve her goals while creating a sense of home away from home was important.

“I was so nervous to leave everything and everyone I knew and start somewhere completely new,â€ Alyvia admitted. “I worried about having a community like I grew up with, when in reality, that was the easiest part of my 91µ÷½Ì experience. The most meaningful part of my experience has been the easiest: finding my people! They are so precious to me!â€

Alyvia said she is lucky to have made countless connections with faculty, staff, and students at 91µ÷½Ì. Each one has helped her grow the confidence and leadership skills she will carry for the rest of her life. She said it’s things like that which make 91µ÷½Ì different from anywhere else.

“91µ÷½Ì has such a unique campus culture,â€ she said. “There is a community on campus that makes it feel like home. The connections and opportunities you experience are so unique to 91µ÷½Ì.â€
