Campus Update: Inclement Weather Notice
Written By: Terisa Riley
The National Weather Service continues to forecast a significant winter system moving into the River Valley tomorrow, with impacts expected to begin between noon and 3 p.m.
In response, the 91调教 Emergency Management Team has made the decision to pivot to remote work at noon Friday, January 23, (tomorrow) and cancel all classes after 12 p.m. All weekend events have been canceled, and all weekend operations will be halted.
Tomorrow鈥檚 basketball games will continue as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., as, at this time, the Emporia State teams are confident in their ability to travel in advance of the storm system.
Forecasts indicate up to 12 inches of snow over the next 48 hours, with the possibility of up to 1陆 inches of sleet preceding the snow, creating substantial to potentially impossible travel conditions. Bitter cold is expected through the weekend, including below-zero temperatures.
Monday is forecast to remain brutally cold with little chance of melting any precipitation that falls over the weekend, and the emergency management team anticipates sending another email regarding Monday operations by 5 p.m. Sunday.
